On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Apple announced the iPhone 16e, a new addition to the 16 series that provides advanced capabilities at a more affordable price. Said to fully launch by 28th February, pre-order has commenced since 21st February. The iPhone 16e, priced at $599, replaces the iPhone SE and represents a $200 increase over its predecessor.
Design and Display
The iPhone 16e has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display that produces vivid graphics and crisp typography. It retains the flat-edge style with an aluminum frame and reinforced glass back in two colors, black and white.
It introduces a customisable Action Button, which replaces the standard mute switch.
Performance
With the upgraded C1 modem and Apple’s A18 CPU, the iPhone 16e offers enhanced battery life and quick performance. With the help of Apple Intelligence, the gadget improves Siri with capabilities like text summarizing and real-time emoji creation. Apple claims the iPhone 16e offers up to 26 hours of video playback, surpassing previous models. It supports 7.5W Qi wireless charging but lacks MagSafe compatibility.
Camera
The iPhone 16e comes with a single camera and boasts a 48-megapixel Fusion camera with a 2x telephoto lens which allows for detailed and high quality zoom. Additionally, it has a True-Depth front camera system with Face ID compatibility and safe verification.
Is the iPhone 16e worth it?
The iPhone 16e provides a great mix of features, design, and performance at a more affordable pricing for some people.
